Vicki has all the information on FREE weekend activities around Houston this weekend. Here are a few highlights:
Hike a Trail — The U.S. National Park Service offers Fee-Free Weekend June 20-21 with free admission to its more than 100 national parks around the country. In Texas, those national parks include Big Bend National Park, Fort Davis National Historic Site, Guadalupe Mountains National Park, and Padre Island National Seashore. Two other fee-free weekends are July 18-19 and August 15-16. More details here.
Watch an Outdoor Concert/Flick — Head to Discovery Green for Popcorn Kids — Family Film Fun on Saturday, June 20, beginning at 7 p.m. The evening kicks off with live music by Pop Stars: Dads Who Rock, a songwriters circle/song swap of four dads. A film screening of The Best of Children’s Film Festival Seattle 2009 begins at 8:30 p.m., which features animation, live action, and documentary films from seven countries. This totally rocks. I'd even be willing to go to a national park or an outdoor concert for a small fee but free is always better.
