This Weekend: No Sales Tax on Energy Star Appliances

Wow! If you're in need of any appliances then you'll be glad to know about the SALES TAX HOLIDAY this Memorial Day weekend on Energy Star appliances! That's right Texas shoppers pay no state or local sales tax beginning Saturday, May 23 through Monday, May 25, when you purchases qualifying energy efficient products.

These qualifying products include:
air conditioners priced under $6,000,
clothes washers (but not clothes dryers*),
ceiling fans,
dehumidifiers,
dishwashers,
light bulbs (incandescent and fluorescent),
programmable thermostats, and
refrigerators priced under $2,000.

Delivery, shipping, handling, and Internet orders also qualify for the exemption. Get more details at the official Texas Comptroller Web site.

* Energy Star does not label clothes dryers because they use similar amounts of energy.
